Self Portrait #28

Taken in Berlin, this is Cody's fifth series within the "Self Portrait" collection - an ongoing photography project that Cody has started since 2007 while he’s dancing around the world with Matthew Bourne’s Swan Lake to capture his moments in time as inspired by places where his professional dance career has taken him to.

As soon as Cody enters the Holocaust Memorial, he feels a strong sense of isolation, hopelessness, and feels responsible to create an active visual dialogue with the environment.

"This intense feeling of loss has inspire me to take a Site-Specific approach to respond with my movements and breathing- I want to contribute my energy and warmth to the space, while creating a connection between the past and the present. This participation within the visual composition is a metaphor, of how us as human is constantly evolving, along the timeline of difficult times, stability, prosperity, with the hope of reaching the ultimate definition for humanity."
